AGAPE

Each year, we choose a guiding word that serves as a focal point for our hearts and minds throughout the year. This word acts as a spiritual compass, helping us align our thoughts, prayers, and actions with God’s direction for our lives. It reminds us of His faithfulness, encourages us in times of challenge, and invites us to grow deeper in our faith. As individuals and as a community, we allow this word to shape how we see God, how we trust Him, and how we live out our faith every day.

Our word for 2026 is Agape: the selfless, sacrificial love of God. Agape is not just a feeling; it is a way of living. It is the kind of love Jesus shows us and the kind He calls us to extend to others.

Our theme verse for the year comes from the Gospel of John 13:34:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

Jesus doesn’t just tell us to love; He defines the standard of that love by His own life. Agape love is patient when it’s hard, sacrificial when it’s costly, and faithful when it’s inconvenient. This year, our prayer is that God would move us beyond simply knowing His love to living it out in real, tangible ways toward our families, our church, our city, and even those who are hard to love.
